Since when do Shaggy and Scooby try to out burb and fart each other?

Scooby reminds me of The Brady Bunch movie in that it exists soley to make fun of itself. Its a parody and a very bad parody at that.

Why should anyone care that Sarah Michelle Gheller is helpless. Heck she's beautiful and torments everybody around her. Who cares about Fred? He's not a nice guy, he's an idiot. Even Velma is an overimportant nerd who the audience knows could improve here cool quotient a 1000% just by shedding her sweater. Shaggy might have saved the movie but he spends the movie faithfully recreating the original role, which by no stretch of the imagination was ever a lead.

There is no lead, no direction and a hollow story. The joke about Scrappy Doo is very inside to fans who know that the new baby always kills off a TV show. Nobody ever liked Scrappy Doo in the cartoon and the film carries that theme through in the parody. They just take it way too far.

That leaves the farts and burps, not much to build a movie on.

The only redeming quality was Matthew Lillard as Shaggy. He was Shaggy! Why did Fred have to pick on Daphne he didn't do that in the cartoons. Too bad the other actors didn't take their roles as seriously. My flat hand vote is out of loyalty to the cartoon and to Lillard as Shaggy.
