MIB II
Dan
If there really is a secret government organization protecting us from alien
crimes, there won't be a Men in Black III.
Joel Siegel used to be one of my favorite critics but he thought MIB II
was a nonstop laugh track. He must not watch much TV because the rest of us
have seen the funny gags 10 or 12 times. Even Joel admits that there's not really
much of a story, just a bunch of "alien gags" which consist mostly
of Will Smith getting tossed around by various monsters. If Smith isn't being
brutalized, then one hapless alien or another is being shot, cut in half or
otherwise butchered. It's a convenient way to show senseless violence without
human blood; its the same concept as a Road Runner cartoon.
The effects were cool and I liked Rip Torn, Frank the Dog, the Worms and the
alien Victoria Secrets Model. I suppose this is enough to save the film from
an outright "thumbs down" but not by much.

I liked the first one better and I was prepared to like this one as well. I
would have enjoyed it more if I hadn't seen any previews, I agree with Dan that
most of the good stuff was given away on TV. Frank the dog and the Worms were
the funniest parts.
