The Bourne
Identity
Dan
Wow! What a movie. The Bourne Identity had nonstop action and a very
convincing performance by Matt Damon. There weren't any James Bond gadgets or
Jack Ryan warheads but it had all the car chases, gun battles and back stabbing
intrigue you could want.
Director Doug Liman (Swingers) creates a balanced tale that begins and
ends in the water. Jason Bourne is figuratively born in the Mediterranean and
is able to create a new life for himself in the four weeks he's being chased
around Europe. How would you handle the job of recreating your identity? Damon,
as Jason Bourne, wrestles with what he really is and what he's been programmed
to be. He decides that the important thing to do is the right thing, that's
his new identity.
Both Michelle and I walked away from the movie thinking it was great little
flick. In the Affleck vs. Damon summer action movie sweepstakes, score one for
The Bourne Identity over The Sum of All Fears.
Michelle
I agree but the one problem I had was the lack of chemistry between Damon and
Franka Potente. The romance seemed forced.
